Reflection

I've been pondering the name of my blog: Rita's Reflection. To me the use of the word "reflection" means 2 things:
  1. To express carefully considered thoughts
  2. To show an image of; To give evidence of the characteristics or qualities of someone or something

The first meaning is looking back on and contemplating experiences and hopefully to learn something in the process. I think that so much of life is not the big, planned events, but it is what happens minute by minute and how we take advantage of each opportunity and live life to the full; to live intentionally. To make a contribution and to learn and grow. And so looking back on our days helps us mine for nuggets: to consider how we are blessed, which gives us the right perspective on things, to realize how things could de done better next time, and to enjoy the memory of special moment in time.

The second meaning is the desire of my heart to be a reflection of Jesus and to be the person He created me to be. I won't fully be that person until I get to Heaven or Jesus comes back to make everything right, if that happens first. This made me think of a passage in the Bible:

1 Corinthians 13:12
Now we see but a poor reflection as in a mirror; then we shall see face to face. Now I know in part; then I shall know fully, even as I am fully known.

Right now I am just a poor reflection. This makes me have an eternal perspective. And it makes life have meaning because there is purpose. I will see Jesus face-to-face, and everything that was seen in a poor reflection will be fully known. And it's amazing to think of another passage in the Bible:

1 John 3:2
Dear friends, now we are children of God, and what we will be has not yet been made known. But we know that when he appears, we shall be like him, for we shall see him as he is.

We will see Him as He is, and we will be like Him! Wow! I am not fully who I am meant to be. But I will be.
